FOR SALE: Super duper rare Chamberlin M-1 remote with original keyboard, remote switcher, and one-of-a-kind custom made midi converter.
Harry Chamberlin designed the Chamberlin electro mechanical keyboard instrument in the xxxx?s. In xxxx a company called Streetly Electronics produced a ripoff machine called the Mellotron. Both the Mellotron and the (far better) Chamberlin were in production for several years at the same time. The Chamberlin M-1 was by far Chamberlin?s most reliable and refined instrument. The rare M-1 remote (only six made, only three still exist) was Chamberlin?s most interesting, reliable and maintainable machine.
At one time or another I have owned every Chamberlin M-1 remote known to still exist. I have also owned several other rare Chamberlins and dozens of Mellotrons. The Chamberlin I am selling (serial #5) is the best instrument built by either Mellotron or Chamberlin that I have ever heard or played. Sadly most Chamberlin M-1?s have had their original tapes replaced or the tape sets are beat up. This machine has a perfect set of original tapes with the best choice of sounds possible. Sounds include French Horn, Flute, Trumpet, Tenor Sax, Strings, Organ, Cello, and Vibes. This Chamberlin is also the only complete M-1 remote in the world and it is in by far the best condition of any of them. It has been serviced to perform in as-new condition. This unit has the only known original switching device which works brilliantly. It also comes with an original Chamberlin remote keyboard.
Even sweeter, sometime ago some crazy European guy worked for months and months to figure out how to make a custom midi converter just for this machine. It is the only one of its kind and works perfectly. Imagine prompting a ?real? Chamberlin with midi.
Over the years I have gathered many Chamberlin spares (parts that were obtained directly from Harry?s son Richard Chamberlin). Whoever buys this machine will be granted free replacement parts anytime they are needed. Though, every part on this instrument is practically new old stock. The machine is fully operational and fully restored.
